ABOUT FCA SOCCER

FCA SOCCER MISSION STATEMENT

To competitively coach the heart behind the jersey, while teaching soccer student-athletes how to use integrity, service, teamwork, and excellence all centered around prayer as a platform to impact all for Jesus Christ.

FCA VISION STATEMENT

To see the world impacted by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.

THE FCA VALUES: Our relationships will demonstrate steadfast commitment to Jesus Christ and His Word through Integrity, Serving, Teamwork and Excellence all centered around Prayer.

INTEGRITY- By God’s Grace and with His help, we will demonstrate Christ-like wholeness, privately, and publicly. (Proverbs 11:3) The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.)

SERVING - By God’s Grace and with His help, we will model Jesus’ example of serving. (John 13:1-17)

TEAMWORK- By God’s Grace and with His help, we will express our unity in Christ in all our relationships.(Philippians 2:1-4) Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.)

EXCELLENCE- By God’s Grace and with His help, we will honor and glorify God in all we do. (Colossians 3:23-24Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.)

PRAYER- In all things, we will pray. (Philippians 4:6-7) do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

7.     You need to understand that this is a step above a recreational level of play and is not for beginners. We want you to excel and we desire to get better physically (1st Dimension), emotionally/mentally (2nd Dimension) & spiritually/heart (3rd Dimension). Push each other with encouragement and love in each dimension. We will be competitive and desire athletes that have a strong passion to grow in their gifts and skills.  We want a fire in your belly to compete.

8.     We will be mature and respectful on social media and extremely careful with our cell phones. We will use them in a proper and mature manner because we realize they can be used to harm. We will do no harm with our cell phone technologies or apps.

At each practice and game we can control our:

- Attitude - Effort - Growth Mind Set (Growth requires practice)  - Work Ethic - Communication

Goals for parents each season:

1. Please be positive and supportive.

We will not tolerate negative screaming from the sidelines towards any player or referee. This is a sport and the girls are learning. Be patience with them, they will improve as the season goes on, we promise. Let them enjoy trying new things and learning as they go. Allow them to think for themselves during a game. If you want to help coach, please attend practices or speak with your coach directly. At tournaments, be fun parents and only offer supportive encouragement. Don’t even be critical of their performance on weekends. Wait until at least 24+ hours after a tournament to maybe offer suggestions on improvements. We want them to enjoy the process of learning and growing in the sport of soccer. After the game, simply share with your child how you loved watching them play.  Also, many of our referees may be brand new and still learning how to referee and may be young. Have patience and let the coaches deal with the referees at games. Our goal is that FCA Soccer will be known for being a great team to compete against and not a high maintenance team full of yellers and whiners. Thank you! We want to ask you to have NO negative talk to all athletes on the field. We want to compete well and represent our team well. We want to be known as a great team to compete against and a team that speaks life. If you see good soccer on the field, recognize it no matter who did it.

2. Please be good communicators.

You must download the BAND app and use it.  Let us know ASAP if your younger child will miss a practice or a tournament or is going to be late.  We expect high school athletes to communicate with us directly. Only emergencies are day of excused absences. Otherwise, scheduled absences are preferred so we know how to properly plan around an absence (other sports schedules or school commitments). You will have all our contact information. Also, please read our emails and texts. We are happy to help coordinate rides for girls if necessary, just let us know how we can help each other. If you know your child is having a bad day for a specific reason that you are aware of, please fill us in. It helps us to know if something is going on in their life that may be stressful to them.

3. Please help your child be properly prepared and equipped.

For practices, they will need shin guards, a full water bottle, pumped soccer ball, appropriate clothing (team practice shirt) and soccer shoes. Also, please make sure the girls get appropriate sleep during the season. They should be tired and ready for bed if they are getting enough exercise. Please have the girls wear their team gear to practice and tournaments. If not already, begin to hold them responsible for their things.

4. Please have patience and grace for your coaches.

We are volunteers. We desire excellence, but we are also coaching middle school ladies. We desire to always have open lines of communication.  We desire to always reach a good solution for any potential problem and will always work together to benefit our student-athletes.

COACHES

For this level of play, we desire to have volunteer 3 Dimensional Certified/360 Coaches in place. Like our Team USA Wrestling program, we believe that having coaches’ coach to the heart of an athlete and not just the fundamentals, creates strategies to combat “entitlement”. Through the 3D curriculum, coaches learn how to motivate athletes from within, understand how to build confidence, develop strategies to harness emotions, discover the formula for team cohesion, realize how to effectively set goals, and how to establish a plan to cultivate character in our athletes. Curriculum can be found at: https://3dinstitute.com/course-for-certification/. We desire to have regular coaches’ meetings to support and help one another along our coaching journeys. We desire to support the coach as they lead their teams. We desire to build lasting relationships with our coaches, continue to make effective coaching resources available to them and to create a community of coaches that respect one another and serve one another. We desire for parents get to know who is coaching their daughter. Our prayer is that parents feel our coaches are open to communication and available to work out any problem that may arise. Any potential problems will be worked out in a loving and respectful way that promotes deeper friendships and relationships with one another. After all, the goal is community.
